Jimlapbap: A Charlie Brown Dubstep

And here's the video!  It's not super high quality in terms of camera magic, but hopefully it's enjoyable to watch.

Hello all 3 of you who might read this!

Charlie Brown Dubstep

Within the week, "A Charlie Brown Dubstep" will hit the online stores.

2013 Review Barbershop Revue

Similar to the 2012 version, this medley includes songs by Drake, Miley Cyrus, Will.i.am, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Baauer, Macklemore, P!nk, Robin Thicke, Lorde, Imagine Dragons, Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Daft Punk, Calvin Harris, and Ylvis.  This will be out sometime at the beginning of December.

I rant about what has happened to me in the last 24 hours.

Latest Video!

For July 4th, I released a "Pop Songs as Sousa Style Marches."  It includes:

"I Love It" by Icona Pop

"Come and Get It" by Selena Gomez

"Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke

"Can't Hold Us" by Macklemore

This was probably the most ambitious video I've made to date.  I recorded 30 parts.  The video took 14 hours to compile, and even with all the filters, there are still a lot of green screen bleedthroughs.  But, I just tell people that for the 4th of July they can imagine they're sparklers.

Warning: only the melody is retained!  Other than that, the songs sound VERY different.

After some wrestling with red tape, the new album, "Slippers Comb Java (Ten Anagram Nerds) is finally available for download on CDBaby!

If you're wondering, CDBaby is the best way to buy if you wish to support me financially.  Almost 90% of the sales on CD Baby goes to me directly.  It's around 60% for other major stores, and even lower in some places.  But, I'd rather people buy the album somewhere than nowhere!

Also, this site has been redesigned!

The album is ready to go, but there have been a couple of snags in the bureaucracy.  When the album is submitted to CD Baby, it goes through an screening process so that it can be approved to all of the other sites to which it distributes the album.  However, they give you a form e-mail a list of things that might be wrong, and it is up to you to figure out the problem.  When I thought I figured out the problem, I received the same form e-mail.

I ended up calling them and found out that I cannot include the original artists on an arrangement album, nor can I use the word "arrangement," "cover," or "in the style of," none of which was specifically mentioned on the "list of things that might be wrong."

I ended up making it a puzzle/anagram that you can figure out to spell out "jimlapbap's covers (and arrangements)"  I'm hoping the implication of the word is okay, because it is not actively written on the art.

So, it is currently a week since I originally submitted the album, and zero word on when/if it will finally be approved.  My initial aim was to release on CD Baby earlier this week, so that it would be distributed to iTunes by the July 1st deadline, but it looks like that's not going to happen.  Stay tuned!

Even though the site isn't quite up yet, I figured I'd do an update!

At the moment, I'm working on a medley of pop songs in the style of John Phillip Sousa marches for the 4th of July.  The current order is:

1. I Love It (Icona Pop)

2. Come and Get It (Selena Gomez)

3. Radioactive (Imagine Dragons)

4. Blurred Lines (Robin Thicke)

5. Can't Hold Us (Macklemore)

This is going to be a slightly different twist because there will be no words, and the harmonies will be changed to fit the Sousa style.  Hopefully people will get it!
